You can use winter tyres in the summer but it is better to store them during the summer months as when winter comes around they will be worn.

You should always check tyres before commencing any long journey this includes checking the air pressure, tread depth and overall condition of the tyre. Tyres should be checked at least once a month for any possible defects that could have occurred during that time frame.

It is not required by law to have winter tyres fitted to your car during the winter months, however winter tyres are designed to cope with the sometimes severe weather conditions bought by winter months of snow, ice, wet and cold temperatures, with specially designed tread patterns for improved grip.

On all new tyres manufactured and fitted after November 2012, all tyres will display 3 distinguished characteristics to be displayed on the tyre informing you of the tyre’s fuel efficiency, wet braking distance and exterior noise emission characteristics.
